Communication

The vestry and the committees have been working hard to try to create a better communication flow between themselves and the rest of the parish.  To begin with, the vestry has created an organizational chart that is circular with God in the middle instead of hierarchical.  We hope that the circular model will reflect our understanding of the importance of all our ministries as we each strive to live out our baptismal covenant here at All Saints.    Our understanding is that we are all called to ministry and that no one is above or below another; ministry is the normal way of life for any Christian.

In an effort to make communication easier, the parish ministries are broken into four groups:

1.      Christian Formation and Stewardship (September and April)

2.     Pastoral Care and Worship (December and March)

3.     Administration, Finance and Property (November and May)

4.     Out Reach (June and October)

Above, beside or below each circle on the organizational chart are the ministries that belong in that circle.  For example, in the Christian Formation and Stewardship circle, we placed church school, book discussion every member canvas, counters, dinners, bazaar, tag sale, potato booth, apple fritters, Shrove Tuesday Dinner, Game Night and any ministry that belongs to the fund raising group.

After we put the different ministries in the different circles, vestry teams that act as liaisons between the ministry and the vestry were formed for each of the circles.  They will get in touch with the ministry chairs twice a year and report back to the vestry twice a year about what the different ministries are up to and if there are needs.     You can also contact your liaison any time if you need the vestry for anything.   Names and phone numbers of vestry members are on a separate sheet in this Reporter.  Here are the vestry liaison teams:

Candy Coffey, Sue Lamphier and Ed Chamberlain       Christian Formation and Stewardship

Kurt Kuegler, Roger Barton and Jim Moore                  Pastoral Care and Worship

Chuck McGrane, Tom Taylor and Terry Collins            Administration, Finance and Property

Joann McGuire, Tammy Carissimi and Dan Weaver     Out-Reach

These are the vestry members that you can go to if you have a question, concern, suggestion or to just give them a pat on the back for a job well done.    But you don’t have to always go to them because they will come to you twice a year to ask you how you’re doing and if you have what you need for your ministry, and if you need anything from the vestry.   The vestry won’t wait for you to come to them, the vestry members are going to come to you twice a year or more, if you want, to check in with you and see how you are doing.    Above the ministry group names in the organization chart are the months of the year that your liaison will come to you.  Those are the months that your group will hear from one of your vestry liaisons so be prepared.  But if you need to talk to one of your liaisons, they are available any time.   Also the vestry liaison understands the importance of getting back to you with an answer to your question or concern.
